The IBO maintains education programs for university students, school groups, and the general public during the autumn migration. Hundreds of visitors each year travel to IBO research sites to view songbirds, raptors, and forest owls. Lectures, training courses, and research opportunities are offered for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. In addition, IBO also schedules group visits from local birding and outdoor groups, scout groups, K-12 classes, and other groups interested in birds. Please contact our Education Director to schedule your group’s visit.
IBO is developing a year-round environmental education program for local K-12 schools that will consist of hands-on outdoor exercises in several local natural areas, including the Boise Ridge, the Boise Foothills, the Boise River, and local canyons.
